The blade has been designed and perfected over generations to maximize cutting quality and ensure easy sharpening after extensive use. The patented Virobloc locking mechanism keeps the knife safely closed in your pocket and securely locks the blade open during use. The simplicity of the design and the sustainable wooden handle make the knife lightweight and comfortable to carry.
Measuring 7.5 inches open, the No.08 is the perfect size for everyday carry. Composed of five essential elements – the blade, the wooden handle, the fixed ferrule, the rivet, and the rotating Virobloc locking ring (added in 1955 to sizes No.06 and above) – the Opinel folding knife is both smart and simple.
Opinel recommends hand-washing and immediately drying the blade with a soft, dry towel to maintain the knife. Lubricating the blade with cooking oil before closing is also recommended to prevent oxidation. The knives are made in the French Alps, where the company has been based for over 130 years.
